TULSA – Three alumni of the Southeastern Oklahoma State University music program were honored with special awards at the annual Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OkMEA) Winter Conference recently.

“Southeastern is so proud of our alumni in music education for the work they are doing in Oklahoma and across the country,” said Dr. Michael Scheuerman, SE music department chair. “These three alumni are ambassadors for our university and excellent examples of the strong student and alumni in our music department. Our department has such a great legacy of success and we’re so happy that these leaders in their field are Savage Storm alumni.”

Jace Caldwell earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Southeastern in 2017 and works for Broken Arrow Public Schools, where he is the Choir Director at Sequoyah Middle School. Caldwell was a winner of this year’s Young Music Educator Award.

Additionally, she is the national conference chair for the Organization of American Kodaly Educators in 2024 and is the Southwestern representative on the National Association for Music Education General Music Council. She was awarded the Exemplary Teacher Award at the OkMEA conference.
