Silo freshman baseball player Paxton Scoggin has been selected to participate on the 15U Team USA National Team in the upcoming World Baseball World Cup in Mexico.
Scoggin, a standout shortstop for the Rebels, was one of the 20-player roster chosen during the final round of tryout competition last weekend at the National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. Twelve states were represented on the Team USA roster with Scoggin the lone selection from Oklahoma.
The group is scheduled to begin play with pool play action this Friday in Cancun, Mexico, where they will face off with Czechia, Nicaragua, Australia, Chinese Taipei and Venezuela over a five-day period with the top two pool finishing nations moving on to bracket play in Merida, Mexico with the World Cup championship game scheduled for Sunday, October 4. Live streaming is expected to be available on a pay-per-view basis at the USA Baseball webpage.
Scoggin has been a signature contributor for the topranked Rebels this fall from the leadoff position in the order. He is currently hitting .451 with five doubles, six homers, 18 runs batted, 30 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.
The freshman, who is currently ranked as the 6th best player in the nation in the Class of 2030 by Perfect Game, was recently named the 2026 Perfect Game 14U National Defensive Player of the Year at the Perfect Game Select Baseball Festival in Florida.
