Veterans Day parade is Tuesday

The annual Veterans Day parade is at at 9: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 in downtown Durant.

The theme for this year’s parade is, “Silent Strength, Lasting Impact.” A Veterans Day ceremony will immediately follow the parade at VFW Post 3916, 123 S. Second Ave.

Parade marshal is Jack Roth, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served from 19651969. He served in Vietnam from 1966-1967 and achieved the rank of E-4.

Roth was stationed at MCAS El Toro and MB Fallbrook. He was a meat cutter, rifleman and cook during his service. Roth has one son and he enjoys reading. He is a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He attends Fusion Bible Church.

The parade is sponsored by the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce and chamber CEO Kara Byrd said that among those who have signed up for the parade are the veteran organizations AMVets, American Legion and Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.

The annual Veterans Day parade is at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11 in downtown Durant. Rock Creek School was among participants in last year’s parade.
