Woman attacked by dog

On September 8, Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive woman found on the side of Smiser Road, just outside of Calera city limits. Deputies, along with officers from the Calera Police Department, arrived on scene and located a 46-year-old female who appeared to have sustained injuries consistent with dog bites.

Bryan County EMS and the Calera Fire Department provided emergency medical aid. The victim was transported by air ambulance to Plano Medical Center.

The dogs involved in the incident have been impounded. The owner of the animals is cooperating fully with law enforcement to ensure public safety as the investigation continues.
