The annual Boys & Girls Club 5K for Futures and Color Run was held last Saturday and the event included getting splashed by the Durant Fire Department while releasing packets of colored powder.
A farewell reception for Southeastern President Dr. Thomas Newsom and wife Vicky was held last week at the SE Ballroom. Newsom recently was named president of Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Mead voters approve OG&E franchise

Mead voters approved a 25-year franchise with OG&E to provide electricity to the town during an election last week. A total of eight residents voted in the election and the community has 119 registered voters, according to the Bryan County Election Board.
