Seven-year-old Rhett Brewer, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 5, cuts the ribbon before the Breakthrough T1D walk at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex to raise money for diabetes research. Matt Swearengin | Durant Democrat Washington Irving Elementary School had a race Nov. 22 in inflatable costumes for Special Olympics and students who brought 10 cans of food for the food drive were able to throw water balloons at Principal Maegan Morgan and counselor Cassie Mullens. Pies were also thrown.
