Fortnightly Club makes donation to Child Nutrition Services

Fortnightly Club of Durant recently presented a donation check to the Durant Independent School District Child Nutrition Services as their “National Day of Service” project. Fortnightly Club was organized in Durant in 1902 and federated in 1903 as a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

DCFA approves final projects

The Durant Community Facilities Authority in a meeting last Friday approved a final round of projects from sales tax revenue from a tax passed 20 years ago that expired in September.

Durant High School freshman Braxton Manous built a GaGa ball pit at the intermediate school for his Eagle Scout project and he was recognized during last week’s meeting of the Durant Board of Education.

‘Big Boy’ locomotive to stop in Durant

On Aug. 28, Union Pacific launched its 10-state “Big Boy” No. 4014 Heartland of America Tour offering the general public and media an opportunity to witness history in motion as the legendary steam engine chugs its way across the Midwest and South, including Oklahoma.
