Burglary suspect shot in Silo

A suspected burglar was shot when the property owner confronted him and two other suspects, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies were dispatched at 12:41 a.m.

The solar eclipse will Monday, April 8 and classes won’t be held that day in the Durant School District. Superintendent Duane Merideth spoke about the eclipse during a meeting last Monday of the Durant Board of Education and he said he wanted to make sure the students are safe.

Choctaw Nation awards $340,250 to City of Atoka’s Downtown Greenspace Project

ATOKA - In a significant step towards the revitalization of Atoka, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma presented the City of Atoka with $340,250 to support the first phase of the Downtown Atoka Greenspace Project, which aims to create a vibrant community hub across from Atoka City Hall.

For many schools in Oklahoma, March means Spring Break. However, Bryan County Retired Educators held their March meeting to hear young singers, vaccination education for senior citizens, and legislative updates from Oklahoma Retired Educators.
