Durant motorcyclist killed in Arkansas crash

A Durant man who was a former Durant city council member was killed last Saturday when his motorcycle was struck head on by a vehicle in rural Johnson County, Arkansas. According to the Arkansas State Police, 72-year-old Curtis (Mike) Morris was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 1:40 p.m.

Youth Services has grand reopening

Youth Services of Bryan County celebrated its grand reopening and expansion with an open house recently. Founded in 1971, YSBC helps at-risk youth and their families through counseling, education, life skills, and community- based programs.

Sheriff’s deputy sworn in as deputy U.S. Marshal

Bryan County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tyler Balentine was sworn in recently as a Deputy U.S. Marshal with the Eastern Oklahoma Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force by supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Lance Hancock.

State question raises minimum wage if approved by voters

State Question 832 will be decided by voters during the June 16 election and if approved, it would raise minimum wage in the state. According to the ballot, the measure amends the Oklahoma Minimum Wage Act (OMWA) under the Oklahoma statutes to increase the state minimum wage.
