Sheriff unopposed in election filing

The filing period for sheriff and other Bryan County offices closed last week, and Sheriff Joey Tucker did not draw an opponent. Tucker was appointed sheriff in April 2025 following the death of Sheriff Johnny Christian.

Sheriff Christian remembered for how he lived

Bryan County Sheriff Johnny Christian passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 28, 2025, at the age of 58, and last Friday, March 27, a day before the first anniversary of his death, he was remembered for how he lived during a ceremony at the Highland Cemetery pavilion.
