A No Kings Rally was held Saturday at 12th and Main in Durant and it was one of more than 2,700 across the U.S. that organizers said had almost seven million participants.

The 16th annual Colton’s Main Street Run took off on Saturday with 1,390 runners and walkers. Trace and Dena Sherrill, parents of Colton Sherrill, founded the run in memory of their son, who died in June 2008 at age 10 from an unknown heart defect while attending a basketball camp.

Jon Echols, a Republican candidate for Oklahoma Attorney General in 2026, stopped in Durant last week to visit with voters and talk about his campaign. Echols, of Oklahoma City, said he has visited communities across southeastern Oklahoma.

Kiamichi Tech celebrated a groundbreaking last week for its new Skilled Systems Training Center at the Durant campus, a project KTC says will expand training opportunities to meet the growing workforce needs of Bryan County and southeastern Oklahoma.
