Growing up as the daughter of a former wrestler, Caddo’s Gage Vaughn followed the same path as Durant standout Addison Polk through the Durant youth wrestling program. And much like Polk, Vaughn reached last week’s high school wrestling state tournament in Oklahoma City.

In the scientific world, a torus is a name given to an object that is shaped like a donut. In this case, TORUS is an acronym for Texas Oklahoma Regional Undergraduate Symposium (for math students). It has taken place at Southeastern and other universities around the region and 2024 marks its 20th year. Seven SE math and computer science students attended TORUS 2024 at Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City, accompanied by their professors and advisors.

Kingston Town Council approved four people to serve as volunteer firefighters at its regular monthly meeting Feb. 12.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University is continuing recent trends of enrollment growth, reporting the university’s highest-ever spring enrollment in the Spring 2024 semester. Southeastern’s 5,377 students enrolled in the Spring 2024 semester marks an increase of 8.0 percent compared to Spring 2023.

The Four-Way Test is the motto used by Rotarians world-wide as a moral code for personal and business relationships. The year was 1955. Word-of-mouth news spread around the campus in Abilene, Texas, where I was a firstyear college student. Elvis Presley was performing at the Paramount theater there that night! As a naïve country boy, I did not know who Presley was or why he was attracting such attention. Being curious kids, some of us went to see what was happening.
