Steven Kenneth Webb

Steven Kenneth Webb entered this earth on January 17, 1953, and left this earth with his beloved dog Traybo by his side, on that same day exactly 71 years later. He was the son of Frankie Roe Webb and Sidney Geraldine Webb (Sanders) both of which preceded him in death. Grandson to Odie and Farmer Webb and Earnest and Carrie Sanders all of Durant. He was the oldest of 4 children and is survived by his 2 sisters Nancy Crumbacher of Sherman, Tx and Sheri Albert of Yukon, Ok and was preceded in death by his younger brother Larry Paul Webb.

Steve was a father to 2 children Winston Aarron Webb and Julia Morgan Webb and Father-in-law to Chris Epps of Calera, Ok. He was the grandfather of 4 Christopher Zaiden Epps, Braven Kaine Epps, Aryel Raine Friesen and Axel Swade Epps. He was an uncle to Robby Chesnut, Shaun Chesnut and Grayson Albert. A Nephew, cousin and a friend to everyone.

He was a lifelong resident of Calera Oklahoma and graduated from Calera High School. He once made the town of Calera proud, by attending and winning medals in multiple state competitions in English and spelling.

He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University as an English major for a year with a desire to teach before leaving college on the advice of a professor who told him he could make more money with his hands. He became a highly skilled brick mason by apprenticing for a man called “Old Ed” whom he loved.

He Co-owned a bricklaying company in Arlington, Tx and bricked many custom homes and churches in Fort Worth and the surrounding areas.

What he could do with “Old Chicagos” and black mud was a sight to see. There are a few homes and churches in Calera and Durant that still have his fingerprints on them.

Steve was a drummer, an artist and a poet. When he lost his sight, he lost the ability to do the things he loved most and lost a very large part of himself. He loved the Beatles, John Lennon, rock and roll and the Blues. He loved to read Byron, Shelley and Keats. If you stopped by to visit him, he would happily engage anyone in intelligent discussions about pretty much any subject, but his favorite subject was the Bible.

He knew that book (what he called it) inside out.

Steve was a collector. He collected brick from various places and had a large collection of books. His favorite book other than the Bible was The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. If you stopped by to visit, he would often dig through his “stuff” and find something to give to you. Just days prior to his departure from this earth he stopped by a few houses unnoticed, and quietly left gifts of candy with flowers on the doorsteps of people he cared about when he had very little to give. His tendency to collect turned into a way to support himself in his later years and brought him into conflict with city officials. Never one to bow to authority Steve remained resolute to his beliefs and creed and stood fast. His family fully intends to continue to uphold and fight for his wishes. Steve Webb was proof that you should never judge a book by its cover.

Steve was very much loved in life by his family and friends and will be remembered and honored in death by a pending, to be announced, memorial service in Calera. We hope that all who grew up with him, knew him and loved him will join us in remembering him when the time comes.
