Boydstun signs soccer pact with Mississippi College

Throughout the last four years, Karah Boydstun has been an offensive standout for the Durant Lady Lion soccer team, leading the program in virtually every offensive category during that tenure.

Boydstun’s impressive numbers drew plenty of attention from opponents and college coaches alike, garnering her a scholarship from powerhouse Mississippi College.

“It really feels amazing,” Boydstun said of continuing her career at the next level. “I have worked my entire life for this opportunity, so it feels great that all the practices and hard work paid off.

“My sister has helped me all the way through this process. From little league all the way up to high school. And I can’t wait to keep the journey going.”

The senior catalyst’s scoring numbers have been nothing short of eyepopping for the Lady Lions over the last four years as she tallied 88 goals scored as well as 29 assists.

That’s all the while of being a proverbial coach on the field to help along the younger players while her sister Katie made the coaching moves from the sideline.

She hopes that will continue on with the Choctaws, who recently had four former players sign professional contracts.

The Clinton, Mississippi program posted 11 wins this past year, but narrowly missed a fourth straight trip to the National Tournament.

“The Mississippi College coach gave her a big enough scholarship to pay for all of her school after she got her academic money,” Durant head coach Katie Williams commented. “Karah had offers from other colleges as well but fell in love with the campus and the players on her visit to Mississippi and that’s all it took.”

Boydstun plans to study Kinesiology and eventually get into athletic training.
