Have you wanted to run a 5k but didn’t know where to start? Are you looking for a walking group? Do you like running or walking and encouraging others?
Durant Trails and Open Space is hosting a walking/running training program called “Couch to Colton’s Run” for people at all stages of fitness. They will gather three times a week at Carl Albert park in preparation for Colton’s Run (3.1 miles). There is no cost for participating in the training and no pressure.
The goal is to gather with others and celebrate steps toward better health. Mike Davis will be leading the running group and Tim Boatmun will be leading the walking group.
The 8-week training starts Aug. 27. They will meet each Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. and each Saturday at 8 a.m. It will still be warm, so please bring your own water or hydration. Any questions you can email tboat-mun@ se.edu or visit our Facebook page.
