Lady Bruins win Tushka tourney title

Caddo cruised to the Tushka softball tournament championship with five dominant wins, only one of which wasn’t a run rule.

The top-ranked Lady Bruins blasted Durant JV, 120, and Idabel, 14-0, to open the tournament and then romped through an impressive Saturday finale with a trio of wins. They toppled Kiowa, 10-3, and blanked Coalgate, 8-0, before blitzing Latta for a 10-0 triumph in the final tilt while improving their record to 15-2 on the season.

In the Saturday championship round, Brylee Daniel fired a complete game against Kiowa, yielding two earned runs on seven hits. The Lady Bruins ended with 13 hits topped by triples from Rylan Peevyhouse and Jaycie Nichols as part of their two hits apiece. Lyndee Harless and Presley Beck also contributed two hits.

A whitewashing of Coalgate saw Peevyhouse work four innings in the circle, allowing four hits and striking out six to notch the pitching win.

Daniel added three hits, including a double, and drove in three for Caddo. Nichols and Peevyhouse tallied two hits apiece.

The Lady Bruins blew past Latta with Daniel serving as the offensive catalyst with three hits and five runs batted in. Jordyn Nichols contributed two doubles with Beck also finishing with three hits.

Peevyhouse needed just four innings for a perfect game, striking out seven in the process.

Silo Softball

The Lady Rebels split six games in Omaha, Nebraska, last week, facing mostly Class 6A size opponents Silo notched a 9-1 win over Omaha Westside, downed Millard South by a 6-4 count and outlasted Bellevue West, 8-4, for their three triumphs.

Against Westside, Connie Tubby posted a single, double and home run while driving in a pair to fuel the offensive charge. Timber Hensley had two hits with Trinity Ford, Bree Ginn, Jayci Webb and Dylan Paddock contributing one apiece.

Hensley also had the pitching victory, scattering four hits and yielding on unearned run while striking out eight.

It was Hensley’s three hits, including two doubles, that spurred the Millard South triumph. Tubby had two hits and drove in a pair with Ford also adding a pair of hits. Paddock and Kamrey Hendricks tallied one each.

Webb was the offensive catalyst against Bellevue West, posting three hits and drove in five of the squad’s eight runs. Hensley also had three hits while Tubby notched two.

Kami Wilson and Hensley combined for the pitching win, scattering six total hits and struck out six.

Calera Baseball

Coach Ricky Teafatiller’s Bulldogs cruised to a big 10-2 win over Wister and edged rival Colbert, 3-2, in action last week.

The Bulldogs capitalized on five runs in the sixth inning to break open a tight contest versus Wister as Zayden Craige twirled a complete game, yielding seven hits and struck out four.

Logan Bumgarner and Hazyn Applegate each notched two hits for Calera.

Bumgarner won a pitching duel with Canon Marr in the victory over Colbert as the junior righthander allowed one earned run, scattered six hits and fanned seven in the complete game gem.

Marr allowed three runs on three hits for Colbert and struck out nine.

Calera made the most of three hits, two of which came from Bumgarner.

Jase Beaver led the Leopards with two hits as Kegan Neill chipped in a hit and two RBI.
