Silo blasts Kingston in area showdown

Silo geared up for the Class 3A fastpitch playoffs with three shutout wins last week, including a 9-0 blanking of nearby rival Kingston to improve their record to 27-10.

The Lady Rebels blasted Antlers (100) and Atoka (12-0) before the Kingston victory.

Timber Hensley twirled a two-hit shutout in the pivotal district triumph over Antlers, striking out seven and walking none in just five innings.

Silo’s offense racked up four runs in the third to break a scoreless deadlock and put it away with six more tallies in the fourth. Connie Tubby, Jayci Webb and Bree Ginn all had two hits with both of Tubby’s coming on doubles.

Tubby had three more hits, including a double and triple, against Atoka while Dylan Paddock contributed two hits and two batted in. Trinity Ford chipped in a pair of hits and drove in one.

Hensley fired a one-hit shutout for the pitching triumph, adding five strikeouts in three innings.

Silo pounded out 11 hits in just four innings facing Kingston in a playoff tune-up for both teams. Ginn tallied three of the hits, including a double. Tubby had two doubles and drove in a pair while Hensley and Maddix Sander also notched a double apiece.

Hensley recorded another pitching win, tossing all five innings in a one-hit shutout that included nine strikeouts.

Caddo Lady Bruins

Top-ranked Caddo began defense of its state title in dominant fashion, sweeping past Indianola for the Class A district title.

The Lady Bruins posted 18-0 and 19-0 wins in a grand total of four and one-half innings.

Brylee Daniel fired a perfect game in the first contest, striking out six in the three-inning affair. Daniel also led the offensive assault with three hits and three RBI while Jaycie Nichols had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two. Lyndee Harless, Jordyn Nichols, Josi Herrington and Kayden Prince added two hits apiece.

It was Peevyhouse in the pitching circle for the district finale, striking out nine in three innings of the no hitter.

Caddo had 15 more hits with Presley Beck hitting a homer while driving in three. Jaycie Nichols, Harless, Jordyn Nichols and Peevyhouse all contributed two hits.

The Lady Bruins also added a 4-0 shutout of perennial power Latta behind a three-hit complete game effort from Peevyhouse, who struck out seven.

Beck pitched in another home run and drove in a pair while Jaycie Nichols had a triple as part of her two hits.

Calera Lady Bulldogs

Despite having to go on the road for regional action, Calera was up to the challenge by knocking off host Stratford twice to claim the Class 2A regional title.

The Lady Bulldogs, improved to 24-10 on the year, are slated to visit Latta for the best-of-3 super regional round this week.

Calera opened the regional with a 7-3 win over Okemah, scoring four times in their final two at bats to hold off the Lady Panthers.

Taylynn Conder and Laynie Paddock finished with key triples with Auhnesty Maytubby adding a double as part of her two hits.

Paddock also earned the pitching triumph with a solid seven innings in which she scattered seven hits and fanned seven.

The Lady Bulldogs followed with a 3-1 surprise over Stratford in which Maytubby allowed a run in the opening stanza and then stymied the hosts the rest of the way with a complete game five-hitter. She also struck out six.

Taibree Melton tallied half Calera’s four hits, one of which was a double, and she also scored twice.

A 4-3 win by Stratford forced a winner-take-all finale in which the Lady Bulldogs prevailed 5-2 to advance.

Calera broke a 1-1 deadlock with a four-run fifth inning that proved decisive. They capitalized on four free passes and a huge three RBI double off the bat of Paddock.

Paddock then slammed the door in the pitching circle, finishing off the complete game in which she yielded two runs and scattered seven hits. She also struck out two.

Melton, Maytubby, Kaira Beller, Makenna Owens and Paddock each ended with one hit.
