In 1895, when Durant was still part of Indian Territory, a dedicated group of men founded a lodge that would become a cornerstone of our community. Durant Lodge #57 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows was built on the values of friendship, love, and truth — principles that held communities together in those early days. It was a place where neighbors gathered to help one another, where acts of kindness were more than just gestures, and where fellowship meant belonging to something greater than oneself.
Though the original lodge eventually closed its doors, its spirit never faded. Today, after more than a century, that spirit has returned and Durant Lodge #57 has been rechartered, breathing new life into a tradition that once helped shape this community. As the only Odd Fellows lodge in southeastern Oklahoma, we’re excited to carry forward our rich history and warm sense of purpose.
The rechartering of Lodge #57 is more than just a revival, it’s a homecoming. The Odd Fellows are once again opening their doors to the people of Texoma. Just like the original lodge in 1895, our goal is to bring neighbors together for charitable work, social connection, and a shared dedication to improving our lives and the lives of those around us.
Today’s lodge meetings may look a little different from those in the past, the essence of the organization remains the same. The second Monday of every month, members old and new gather at 3911 W. University Blvd. Here, conversations flow just as they did over a century ago, and the warmth of fellowship still welcomes everyone who walks through the door.
If you’re looking for a sense of connection, a place to serve, or simply a chance to be part of a historic tradition, Durant Lodge #57 offers a unique opportunity. It’s a chance to join hands with neighbors, to rebuild those treasured community bonds, and to carry on a legacy that began when Durant was just a spot on the map.
We are more than just a lodge, we’re a living link to the past, carrying forward a timeless message: that community, at its best, is about looking out for one another. For anyone interested in learning more, the lodge encourages you to attend a meeting, get to know the members, and find your place in this new chapter of an old story.
