While both teams finished as runnerup for district championships, Silo and Calera both had plenty of All-District honors in voting of their respective league coaches recently.

In District 3A-5, the Lady Rebels accumulated five honorees, led by the district’s Player of the Year in Timber Hensley and Offensive Player of the Year Connie Tubby while reaching the state tournament once again.

Hensley did most of the team’s pitching work in posting a 27-9 record in 195 total innings. She yielded 57 runs (38 earned) on 142 hits with 247 strikeouts and 54 while wrapping up with a 1.36 earned run average. She also hit .429 with 17 doubles, two homers, 18 runs batted in and 51 runs scored.

Tubby was the league’s offensive powerhouse throughout the season, posting a .534 batting average that included 22 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 56 RBI and 39 runs scored.

Other Silo All-District selections included sophomore Trinity Ford as an outfielder with seniors Bree Ginn and Cache Atwood picked as utility players.

Ford hit .385 for the season with 10 total extra base hits, including a pair of homers, while driving in 28. Ginn added a.328 batting average with a home run and 16 RBI with Atwood tossing in a .274 batting clip with three doubles, 15 batted in and eight stolen bases while seeing time defensively both at second base and centerfield.

Calera, meanwhile, wrapped up the season with a 26-13 record and a regional title before ending the season short of the 2A state tournament, dropping the best-of-3 super regional to Latta despite taking game one by a 10-9 score.

The Lady Bulldogs garnered four All-League honorees with that success.

Freshman catcher Taibree Melton was one of the top players in District 2A-8 with a sensational .556 batting average while scoring a team-best 49 runs, driving in 29 and stealing 34 bases.

Taylynn Conder was listed at first base on the prestigious team, racking up a .410 average at the plate with 35 RBI and 38 runs scored.

Auhnesty Maytubby picked up honors at pitcher where she led the squad with a 23-8 overall record in the circle. She also had a .366 offensive average while knocking in 38 runs.

The final Calera All-District selection was shortstop Keira Beller, who hit .280 and added 27 runs scored along with her 27 batted in.
