After a couple of tough road matchups in Minnesota to start the year, the Southeastern Savage Storm needed a home game.
And Dallas Christian College was just what the doctor ordered for the young guns as they romped to a 125-77 triumph last Saturday inside Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Coach Kelly Green’s squad improved to 1-2 on the season and will be back home Friday at 7:30 against Arlington Baptist in game two of a four-game homestand.
In Saturday’s opening win, the Savage Storm got off to a good start in building a 52-34 halftime lead before completely exploding in the final 20 minutes with 73 points as they scorched the nets on 11 of 16 shooting from three-point range following the break. They canned a blistering 69 percent overall from the field after intermission.
The Southeastern pressure defense took its toll on the visitors, forcing 26 turnovers which directly led to 39 points. They also notched 54 of those points in the paint.
Landon Condiff paced five Southeastern players in double figures in the wellbalanced offensive arsenal as he pitched in seven treys on the way to 25 points.
Elijah Hughey tallied 14 on five of eight shooting with Robert Briley sinking five of six shots for 13 points. Mihailo Stijovic scored 12 and D.J. Dill tossed in 11, also connecting on five of seven from the field.
Freshman point guard Daniel Halldorsson was just off the double-digit mark, narrowly missing a triple double with nine points, nine rebounds and racked up 16 assists, which tied for the second most in a game in Southeastern school history.
Ethan Wilkerson also pitched in nine points, canning four of six from the field as Santiago Camacho Gomez finished with eight as did Chandler Dickinson.
Jalen Williams and Brady Brister both contributed five, Andrija Brzovic had four and Matheus Semeghini tossed in two as 13 players all tallied points.
