Man electrocuted in Durant

Three people died in separate boating accidents during the holidays, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

According to OHP, 52-yearold Ronald Scott Stoker of Ardmore drowned Dec. 28 in the Washita River in Bryan County. Stoker fell out of a boat at approximately 5 p.m. for an unknown reason while baiting jug lines.

He was not wearing a personal flotation device, the OHP report stated.

Trooper Tommy Allen of the Marine Enforcement Division investigated. Lt. Bryant Harris and troopers Kyle Ince, Rodney Davis and C.J. Williams assisted in the investigation.

Two men drowned at approximately 6 p.m. Dec. 27 after their Skeeter fishing boat struck a pillar while attempting to go under a railroad bridge in the Alberta Creek area of Lake Texoma five miles southeast of Kingston. According to OHP, 70-year-old Danny Glenn, who was operating the vessel, and 73-yearold Leslie Glenn of Kingston, were ejected into the water during the collision.

“Upon the arrival of emergency personnel, the occupants were not immediately located, and a multi-department search was conducted,” the OHP report stated.

The victims were found by OHP Marine Enforcement Units at approximately 1:33 p.m. Dec. 29 near the scene of the accident.

The boat was equipped with life jackets, but they were not in use, according to Trooper Ince’s report.

The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, West Bryan County Fire-Rescue, Texoma Fire Department, Bryan County Emergency Management, Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management, Choctaw Nation Emergency Management and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office assisted OHP.

In other accidents, a man was electrocuted to death Dec. 21 while working on top of a house on Honeysuckle Lane, according to the Durant Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, they found the victim on top of a trailer home and a bystander said the man was walking the neutral wire down from the top of the house to keep it from hanging when he touched the live wire.

Firefighters contacted Southeastern Electric to turn off the power before bringing the victim down from the house.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:03 a.m. Jan. 4 to a storage shed fire at 2208 Mason St. and when firefighters arrived, a neighbor was spraying the fire with a garden hose, according to a DFD report. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire which was ruled to be unintentional but the cause was undetermined.
