Silo basketball teams posted solid efforts all week with the Lady Rebels scoring three triumphs with the boys adding a pair of victories to build momentum toward the Class 3A playoffs.
The Lady Rebels needed overtime but survived Wilson, 44-41, throttled Coalgate in the second half for a 46-33 win and then toppled Hugo, 53-44, in a slugfest.
Against Wilson, Kynleigh Pierce was one of three double figure scorers with 10 and tossed in all three points in the extra period for the victory. Kamrey Hendricks pumped in 11 points, including six in the fourth stanza to rally Silo. Cache Atwood also contributed 11, including a trio of three pointers.
Pierce notched 16 and Raini Metheny had nine to spur the Lady Rebels facing Coalgate as they pulled away in the second half.
It was Pierce’s 22 points that fueled the charge for Silo in the Hugo victory as she connected on four treys. Brooklyn Redwine also caught fire with three treys on the way to 11 points.
Coach Adam Dworsky’s boys’ unit rolled past Wilson, 47-31, and then outslugged Coalgate for a 50-38 victory. In the week’s finale, Hugo scored the final 10 points to break a tie contest and take home the 49-39 win.
Cash Danker was the early catalyst for Silo in the Wilson contest, canning three early treys on the way to 13 points while Hayden Roberts paced the offense with 16.
The Rebels caught fire from out- side against Coalgate, including six three pointers from Blane Beauchamp, who tallied 22 points to key the win.
Danker notched nine points with Roberts and Warner Bradley pitching in eight apiece against Hugo.
Calera Basketball
Bouncing back from losses to Oktaha and Vanoss earlier in the week, Calera’s basketball teams wrapped up a busy week of action with victories over Tushka and Roff last Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 51-29 triumph against Tushka and then blasted Roff right out of the gate on the way to a 49-22 decision.
An 18-6 third quarter flurry broke open the Tushka Homecoming affair as Taylynn Conder pumped in a teamhigh 18 points for the game. Taibree Melton added 13 and Carlaysia Brown checked in with eight.
In the Roff verdict, Calera built a 21-2 advantage through one stanza and never looked back. Brown poured in a season- high 22 points as Conder contributed 12 and Emma Daniel had eight.
On the boys’ side, the Bulldogs burst in front 21-9 facing Tushka and increased that to a dominant 36-13 edge at intermission. Logan Bumgarner tallied 22 to pace the attack for Calera with Zaiden Craige just behind with 18. Garry Chaffin also pitched in seven.
Craige exploded early and often offensively to fuel the Bulldogs against Roff as he finished with a season-high 37 points. Eason Humphers scored nine and Lex Carlton chipped in eight.
