Leadership Durant had another successful Taste of Durant Event where people sampled food from local eateries.
The event was last Saturday at the Choctaw Event Center and their were 28 vendors present.
“Taste of Durant is an annual big-food festival to put it simply and it’s an opportunity for the community to come together, all of the local agencies and companies to come out and support not only the current Leadership Durant class and the chamber, but also the non-profit of the year that a portion of our proceeds are going to go to,” said Leadership Durant class member Taylor Metz. “This year, our class has chosen Feeding Hope to be our nonprofit partner.” Russell Black is also a member of Leadership Durant 2024-2025 and he said the night of the event that it was a great opportunity for food vendors to create awareness of their restaurants.
“I’ve talked to several of them that this is their first year to be here, so they’re pretty excited,” Black said. “We’re excited to have them. It’s a good venue for them to get their name out there.”
A portion of the funds raised goes toward class expenses, but most of it covers the cost of the event and the donation to Feeding Hope.
“It’s my first Taste of Durant and I’m excited to be here and to be a part of the leadership,” Black said.
Leadership Durant is under the umbrella of the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce and it is a program that allows people to learn more about the community they serve.
“On behalf of Leadership Durant, we want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who helped make Taste of Durant such a success,” Leadership Durant said, in a social media post. “From our amazing sponsors and vendors to the fantastic attendees and volunteers – each of you played an essential part in bringing this event to life. Your support, energy and enthusiasm made this one unforgettable night.”
