Book Talk to meet April 10

Book Talk will meet April 10 to discuss “Shelterwood” by Lisa Wingate, with Pat Tonubbee leading the discussion.

The discussion group meets at 6.30 p.m. at Donald W. Reynolds Community Center & Library, 1515 W. Main in Durant. The 6:30 p.m. meeting time is a change from Book Talk’s earlier meeting time of 7:00 p.m.

“Shelterwood” tells intertwined stories, one in 1909 involving two Choctaw children who flee their abusive stepfather, and the other in 1990 involving a missing teenaged hiker and the longhidden burial site of three children in a cave.

The book has won numerous awards and is a USA Today and a Publishers Weekly bestseller.

Tonubbee lives in Bennington and is a retired nurse. She is an active Friends of the Library volunteer and also runs the AARP tax aide program at the library. She is an avid quilter and reader.

Book Talk meets monthly except in December and the summer months. Copies of Book Talk books are available for purchase at the library service desk.

The group’s next meeting will be May 8. Unlike most Book Talk sessions, this will be the group’s annual “sharing meeting,” when participants tell about books they have individually read and would recommend to others..
