Putting up strong numbers on the mound as well as the plate and helping spur Calera to its first-ever state tournament victory, Bulldog junior Logan Bumgarner garnered both MVP and Pitcher of the Year honors in voting of Bryan County Conference coaches.
Bumgarner was the catalyst at the top of the Calera batting order, posting a .406 batting average for the season which included 11 doubles, four triples and a home run while adding 27 runs batted in and a whopping 53 runs scored. He stole 17 bases and had an on-base percentage of .557.
As for on the mound, the right handed ace of the staff led the Bulldog with 44 2/3 innings that included a 3-2 overall record. He scattered 54 hits, struck out 46 and walked 16 while contributing a 3.44 earned run average.
Joining Bumgarner on the talent filled All Conference squad were the Caddo trio of Jake McKay, Jake Mullens and Cale Wigington, Tushka’s Zack Brame, Shooter Boatright and Walt Kerr, the Colbert pair of Remington Graham and Canon Marr as well as Calera’s Zaiden Craige.
The Bryan County All Star selections were Jake Green of Caddo, Colbert’s Brett Parsons and Kaden Neill, the Calera duo of Hazyn Applegate and Jaron Varner, Kenneth Ashby and Konner Ribera from Rock Creek, Tushka’s Tristen Gibson as well as Parker Coons, Landon Barnhill, Landen Worthington and Daniel Williams of Achille.
Tushka’s Landon Carper and Colbert’s Zach Crabtree shared Bryan County Conference Coach of the Year honors.
