The Choctaw Cultural Center will celebrate its 4th anniversary with a day of activities in history, art, and tradition, on Saturday, July 26. Events will run from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1919 Hina Hanta Way, in Durant. The Choctaw Cultural Center will offer chocolatemaking workshops, an Art Market with original works by Choctaw artists, exhibit tours, and stickball and social dancing demonstrations. Rabbit stick throw, cornhole, and bow shoot competitions for youth will be held in the Living Village.
As part of the anniversary celebration, a new exhibition will open. Our Lands, Our Legacy: A Journey Through Choctaw Natural Resources: Hvpi Yakni, Hvpi Nan Ilhpita is a historical collection of artifacts, photographs, and research about the Choctaw Nation’s development of timber, coal, and water on its lands. In its first four years, the Choctaw Cultural Center has had more than 84,000 people walk through its doors, including visitors from across the United States, Canada, Australia, and Ireland. The Center has received numerous awards, including being named 2025’s most Outstanding Attraction in the State by the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association.
