Durant City Council, in its regular meeting Aug.12, will be voting on an economic development agreement that would bring an Albertson’s grocery store to Durant.
In a statement, the city said it is committed to pursuing strategic investments that strengthen the local economy and enhance quality of life for residents.
“This agreement, if approved, is one step in a larger process that could bring a significant investment to our community,” the city said. “At this stage, details such as project timelines and groundbreaking dates have not yet been finalized.
“Albertsons has requested that announcements regarding project specifics be coordinated jointly once all necessary steps are complete. The City respects this request and is committed to ensuring a coordinated communication effort that reflects the scale of the opportunity and the excitement we know our community will feel.
“While there is more work to be done before anything is official, this council item represents an important milestone in what could become a substantial addition to Durant’s economic landscape. We look forward to sharing more information as soon as the process allows.”
