Caddo outslugs Calera in fastpitch faceoff

While a lot of the names have changed, the results continued the same as perennial power Caddo outslugged Calera, 12-3, in a fast pitch opening week Bryan County battle.

Things were relatively tight for five innings as the Lady Bruins pushed across single runs in each of the first three stanzas to take a 3-0 advantage.

Brylee Daniel’s RBI double knocked in the initial run, Harlee Taylor doubled and scored for the second and a Daniel triple and Presley Beck double accounted for the third tally.

That’s how it remained until the sixth when Caddo erupted for six runs to take complete control. Beck tossed in another double that pushed across three with Taylor and Maddie Dufur chipping in RBI singles.

Calera answered with two tallies in its half of the inning to extend the contest as Aaliyah Wesley knocked in both with a double.

The Lady Bruins came right back with three runs as they strung together singles by Taylor, Kayden Cowan, Braylee Malone and Daniel.

Kaira Beller doubled with one out in the bottom of the seventh and scored the final Calera run on a Auhnesty Maytubby single.

Daniel was the winning pitcher for Caddo, firing seven innings in which she allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits, one strikeout and four walks.

Caddo also racked up 15 hits, topped by three apiece from Daniel and Taylor. Beck drove in four along with her two doubles while Cowan and Gage Vaughn also added a pair of hits.

Beller and Maytubby notched two hits each for Calera.
