Sager claims individual title at Madill Cat Run

Avery Sager took the individual championship and led the Durant Lady Lions cross country team to a third place team finish in the Annual Madill Cat Run on Saturday.

Sager blew through the 3,200-meter course in a personal best time of 11 minutes, 54.88 seconds to claim the title while the Durant boys captured seventh as a team.

Elsewhere on the girls’ side of things, Laynee Emert took 12th with a mark of 13:33.94, Katelyn Hitchcock posted a 30th place time of 14:49.48, Kyah French was 31st in a personal best 14:50.88, Grace Morrison checked in 34th at 14:58.96, Alexi Powell took 37th in 15:11.16, Kamryn Brooks claimed 41st in 15:23.61 and Abigail Hixon rounded things out for Durant in 70th with a personal best 20:26.82.

In the high school boys’ division, Durant posted a seventh place team finish on the 5K course spurred by a seventh place individual mark from K.J. Lowery, who clocked in at 17 minutes, 7.55 seconds.

Zach Ervin was also a medalist for the Lions in 12th with a time of 18:05.64. Hudson Phillips checked in 40th at 20:23.88, Kason Ford was 62nd in 21:45.39, Kyric Lehrling ended 69th by notching a 22:10.32, Blake Rhynes crossed the line 79th at 23:17.24, Cameron Mauck tossed in a personal best mark of 23:20.25 for 81st and Kolson Gordon wrapped up 88th in 24:39.36.

The middle school girls ran the 2,400-meter course with the Lady Lions placing fifth in the team standings led by Vivian Lee, who checked in 24th individually with a time of 10:51.73.

Other Durant girls junior high finishers included Elizabeth Hitchcock, 27th (11:00.28); Selena Osorio, 31st (11:04.45); Kenlee Petty, 40th (11:31.45); Aubri Hixon, 41st (11:33.10); Olivia Keeling, 47th (11:51.57); Baylee Sullivan, 54th (12:19.36); Aubrey Perrin, 66th (12:41.80); Julia Rhynes, 73rd (12:55.54); Jaydee Seals, 89th (13:28.93); and Abigail Gardner, 116th (14:56.75).

Durant’s boys middle schoolers posted a fourth place team finish on the 3,200-meter course as Jaxon Osuna had a Top 10 mark as he notched a personal best time of 12:30.03. Jude Scott was just behind that in 12th while crossing the line with his personal best mark of 12:55.62.

Other Lion placers included Logan Wyrick, 26th (13:39.36); Pate Wall, 53rd (14:59.28); Cole Parker, 56th (15:13.32); Jacoby Curiel, 77th (16:56.31); Collin Palmer, 78th (17:09.54); Remi Varner, 88th (19:15.48); and Alejandro Reyna, 89th (19:53.49).

The Durant varsity and junior varsity return to action Saturday in a power-packed event at Moore.
