Deputy court clerk receives staff member of the year award

Bryan County Deputy Court Clerk Myranda Richmond was presented with the 2025 Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section’s Courthouse Staff Member of the Year Award last week.

Bar Association Board of Governors member John Barbush presented the award.

“At the conclusion of the annual meeting, as Board of Governor for the Oklahoma Bar Association, I was tasked with bringing back a piece of hardware for a member of this courthouse because this individual out of the 77 counties across the state was selected as the Courthouse Staff Member of the Year for 2025 by the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section, which is the largest section in the State of Oklahoma and the section that has the most dealings with the entire staff of the courthouses across the state,” Barbush said, before announcing that Richmond was the winner.

Barbush thanked Richmond for her service.

“I want to thank you for how you conduct your job and congratulate you on winning this award because it is 77 counties with all of the courthouse staff,” Barbush said. “This is probably the hardest award you can win in the State of Oklahoma. It is harder than the state championship my son is trying to win in wrestling.

“It is a once in a lifetime award, so I hope that you will take it with the high honor that it comes with. We thank you and the rest of your staff members of this courthouse for allowing, for putting up with not just those of us with the Bryan County Bar Association but even our friends from the bar that come across from some other counties. So, congratulations again on being this year’s winner.”

Richmond, who is the juvenile clerk, has worked in the court clerk’s office for about two years.

“I was surprised,” she said. “I was not expecting it at all. It was a pleasant surprise.”

Bryan County Court Clerk Stacey Canant said Richmond is wonderful.

“She’s a great worker and I’m proud that she was able to get that award and it’s an honor to have her here in the office working,” Canant said.
