Holly Jolly Toy Run raises money for children

The annual Holly Jolly Toy Run raised almost $1,600 Nov. 30 that will go toward children in the community.

The run, that consists of motorcycles and cars, started at the Bryan County Fairgrounds and ended at Holly’s Border Bar in Colbert.

“We are coming together to raise money to help the little kids that need help in the Christmas time this year and we are going to have an auction and meal back at my place a little bit later on,” said Holly Means, president of the run. This is my eighth year.”

The toy run has one goal and that is the raise money for food and toys for needy children, according to Means.

All proceeds will be donated to the Durant Lions Club/U.S. Marines Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program and Feeding Hope.

The Toys for Tots toy giveaway will be Dec. 20 and funds from the ride will help the Lions purchase toys.

“I’m a member of the Durant Lions Club and I love them, and I started helping them and I will always do it,” Means said.
