Top seeds for this week’s Bryan County Tournament squared off in regular season play last week with Caddo winning each contest in dominant fashion.
The Class A top-ranked Lady Bruins cruised past second seed Rock Creek, 66-41, and also finished the week with a 63-22 smashing of Colbert to bump their record to 14-0.
Caddo boys, meanwhile, dropped Rock Creek, 72-50, and then second seed Colbert by a 64-34 count on the road while improving to 13-1 on the season.
County tournament semifinals are slated for Friday night at Bloomer Sullivan Arena with final round action set for Saturday.
Girls
In the early week showdown, Caddo opened with a first half blitz to take complete command before halftime against Rock Creek.
The Lady Bruins were up 24-13 at intermission and 4623 at intermission before the Lady Mustangs narrowed the gap a bit to 56-37 through three periods.
Kayden Prince had a huge performance with 27 points in leading all scorers with Emma Daniel and Belle Hookom each canning double figures with 14 and 12 points respectively. Harlee Taylor tossed in eight with Brilee Tyson adding five points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
Caddo was in front 16-1 through one stanza facing Colbert and built the cushion to 37-8 at halftime while coasting through the second half.
Prince poured in 24 points as Daniel and Hookom wrapped up with 12 apiece.
Boys
The Class A second rated Bruins actually trailed Rock Creek 15-12 through one period but that lead for the Mustangs was short lived as Caddo erupted for 26 points in the second frame to claim the lead for good.
Beck Willingham spurred a balanced charge for the Bruins with 18 points as Kale Brister also hit double figures with 13. Jake McKay scored nine.
Facing Colbert in the week’s finale, Caddo put on a first half blitz for a 28-13 halftime edge and continued to pull away from there.
Willingham pitched in 21 points with nice balance after that including 10 points from Jet Richardson, nine by Dallas Williams and eight for Brister.
