Top ranked Caddo stayed unbeaten winning its second straight Bryan County Tournament title in dominant fashion with a 69-26 victory over Tushka Friday at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
The 17-0 Lady Bruins finished off the tournament sweep with an average margin of victory of more than 39 points, including the largest winning margin in the tourney’s 60-year history.
Caddo blitzed Tishomingo, 61-27, in one of the tournament semifinals while Tushka avenged a pair of earlier losses by toppling Rock Creek, 48-29, in the other. Coalgate girls notched a 45-40 win over Legacy Christian in the consolation championship.
Junior Kayden Prince of Caddo took home Most Valuable Player honors with All Tournament selections being Carlaysia Brown of Rock Creek, Tushka’s Kylie Lee and Addison Karn as well as Belle Hookom and Emma Daniel from Caddo.
Championship Caddo 69, Tushka 26
Tushka grabbed an early 4-2 edge but Caddo responded with 13 straight points fueled by six straight by Prince to take command.
The Lady Bruins led 15-7 after one quarter and pushed the lead to double digits for good with nine straight points to start the second frame as well which only provided the spark for a 26-point explosion.
Prince poured in 21 of her game-high 23 points before intermission as Caddo was up 41-11 at the break and 56-17 through three stanzas.
Caddo also got double figures from Daniel, who pitched in 12. Braylee Malone contributed eight, Hookom had seven, Brilee Tyson notched six, Maggie Williams five, Kaia Braggs scored four with two each by Harlee Taylor and Kiersyn Powell.
Tushka was spurred by eight points from Lee while Ryley Vessels chipped in five, Makenna Pannell and London Reeves tallied four apiece, Karn scored three with Natalee Hill adding two.
Semifinals Caddo 61, Tishomingo 27
Another fast start built a comfortable lead for Caddo as the Lady Bruins cruised the rest of the way and eighth consecutive tournament finals appearance.
Coach Kolby Johnson’s club was up 22-8 through one quarter, 39-14 at the half and 49-23 after three stanzas.
Prince reeled off a gamehigh 19 points with Hookom also reaching double digits with 15. Daniel scored nine, Malone tossed in seven, Bragg and Taylor pumped in four points each as Tyson also scored three.
SkyeWadenotched11points to key the Tishomingo offense, which also got six points from Brynlee Martin. Erica Cabaniss, Sam Cabaniss, Kimber Collins, Madi Pryor and Bentlee Thomas all added two for the Lady Indians.
Tushka 48, Rock Creek 29
The third time proved to be the charm for Tushka after Rock Creek had won the first two meetings of the season between the teams.
Rock Creek got off to a good start with a 13-10 edge after one period before the Lady Tigers claimed the scoring advantage in each of the final three quarters.
Tushka narrowed the gap to 20-18 at the half and took complete control with a 16-5 flurry in the third frame fueled by 14 combined points from Lee and Karn. The same duo added 12 in the fourth during a 14-4 offensive push.
Lee led the charge with 23 points with Karn just behind posting 21. Hill and Vessels ended with two apiece.
Brown and Jeslyn O’Dell both scored nine points for the Lady Mustangs with Maddie Williams and Audrey Knight tacking on five each as Ella Hamill added one point.
