Caddo 73, Hartshorne 62 (boys)
Sophomore stalwart Beck Willingham tallied a doubledouble and Caddo rode an early lead to an impressive win over Class 2A’s eighth-ranked Hartshorne.
Caddo was up 20-11 after one stanza and maintained the lead throughout despite a couple of Miner threats. It was 36-29 at intermission and 55-48 following the third quarter.
Willingham was nine of 17 from the field, including three treys, and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Senior Kale Brister nearly had a double-double as well, contributing 12 points and eight assists. Corbin Stoner chipped in 15 points and Dallas Williams was the fourth Bruin in double digits with 10.
Hartshorne 37, Caddo 32 (girls)
A pair of big scoring swings provided the difference for host Hartshorne in a battle of heavyweights as the Class 2A third-ranked Lady Miners gave Class A top-rated Caddo its first loss of the season.
The Lady Bruins held an 1812 advantage midway through the second frame before Hartshorne rattled off 12 of the next 14 points, which ultimately proved decisive.
Belle Hookom fueled the Caddo offense with 11 points along with seven rebounds. Kayden Prince and Emma Daniel tossed in seven points apiece.
Calera 55, Tushka 47 (boys)
The Bulldogs rode a massive third period to it’s second win of the year over the Tigers.
Tushka led 9-8 after one period before Calera edged out to a 19-17 halftime advantage. The Bulldogs’ Gavin Chaffin exploded in the third frame, however, posting nine points in spurring a 21-9 run that put Calera ahead for good.
Chaffin pumped in nine more points in the fourth quarter, finishing with a season- best 20, as Calera held off a late Tushka burst.
Talon Rose checked in with nine, Xavier Mallard and Eason Humphers scored eight apiece, Logan Bumgarner added five while Malachi Maytubby scored three and Jake Daniel two.
Tushka 46, Calera 25 (girls)
Scoring was tough to come by for Calera as Tushka took the early lead and steadily pulled away behind a dozen points apiece from Kylie Lee and Addi Karn.
The Lady Tigers held a 9-3 advantage after one period, 20-8 at halftime and 36-17 through three frames in spite of a seven-point scoring flurry by Taryn Niblett in the third for Calera.
Harlie Gardner notched six for the Lady Bulldogs with three apiece by Karsen Young and Savannah Mallard. They also picked up two points each from Jaedyn Umsted, Emilee Summit and Tatum Buck.
Silo 67, Byng 64 (boys)
Senior Hayden Roberts’ three pointer with four seconds remaining provided the game winner as Silo pulled out a slugfest for the Rebels’ fifth straight victory.
Silo built a 22-7 first quarter advantage before the Pirates came storming back to go in front 35-30 at intermission. The Rebels answered with a 25-14 third period edge in the see-saw affair in which Silo connected on nine three pointers coming off a school record 20 trey effort less than 48 hours earlier against Atoka.
Roberts tallied 16 points to pace three double figure scorers as Cash Danker and Sam Mendenall connected for 15 apiece. Barett Snapp scored seven, Zane Sander had six with four apiece from Blane Beauchamp and Doc Nuffer.
Silo 54, Byng 38 (girls)
After shooting almost exclusively three pointers in the opening half, 10th ranked Silo opened up the offense a bit after the break to gradually pull away and run its winning streak to eight in a row.
The Lady Rebels held a narrow 11-7 cushion after one quarter and pushed it to 26-16 at the half. They then outscored the Lady Pirates 28-22 following the break.
Paislee Johnson had a strong outing with a season-best 11 points and eight rebounds for Silo. Kynleigh Pierce also hit double figures with 10 points. Brooklynn Redwine chipped in nine, Connie Tubby had eight, Kamrey Hendricks scored seven, Olivia Clark notched five and Mia Goodlow tallied four as well for the Lady Rebels.
