Tulsa Edison connected on key free throws down the stretch and a desperation three pointer at the buzzer by Durant was off the mark as the Lady Lion season came to an end with a 37-34 loss in the Area Tournament at Jenks last week.
Iyana Wilson’s running 28-footer as time expired came up short as the Lady Lions watched a lead with under two minutes remaining slip away.
An Ella Sorrels free throw with 1:50 remaining put Durant in front 32-31 but the Lady Eagles hit a pair of charity tosses eight seconds later to take the lead for good. Two more at the line increased the margin to 35-32 before Wilson’s runner in the lane with eight seconds left proved to be the final Lady Lion points.
Edison led 13-10 through one period before Durant rallied with a 10-5 edge in the second stanza as Wilson and Sorrels combined for nine points. The Lady Eagles snagged a narrow 28-26 advantage through three frames and finished it off by sinking seven of eight at the line in the final stanza.
Sorrels posted a team-high 14 points with 12 also from Wilson. Abrianna Freeman chipped in five and Anslee Morse had three.
