A man wanted since January after deputies responded to a domestic incident was arrested Monday evening in Cartwright, according to the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.
Forty-five-year-old Jimmy Raymond Blow Jr. of Cartwright was arrested on charges of kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Deputies first responded at approximately midnight on Jan. 17 when the Bryan County Communications Center received a 911 call from a woman in Cartwright who was screaming that a man had a gun. The call was suddenly disconnected, according to the sheriff’s office.
When deputies arrived, a man broke through a window and jumped out of the home, and he asked deputies for help. The sheriff’s office said he had stab wounds and they rendered medical aid. The man told deputies a woman and three children were still inside the home, and they could hear someone inside barricading the doors, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Due to the nature of the incident, additional resources were requested,” the sheriff’s office said, in a news release. “Assistance was provided by the Calera Police Department, Colbert Police Department, Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police, Achille Police Department, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Tactical Team and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Tactical Team were also activated.”
The sheriff’s office said deputies and tactical teams safely removed the woman and three children from the home.
“Numerous tactical measures were utilized to attempt to locate and safely take the suspect into custody prior to conducting a physical search of the residence,” the sheriff’s office said. “After a thorough search, it was determined the suspect was no longer inside the home and had possibly escaped the residence through a trap door located in the floor at the beginning of the incident.”
The suspect was later identified as Blow, and the sheriff’s office asked anyone with information to contact them.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to call in tips and share information,” Sheriff Joey Tucker said, in a statement. “It truly made a difference. When a community comes together and looks out for one another, we all play a part in making this a safer and better place to live.”
Bond was denied for Blow, according to online court records.
