Democrat candidates speak to local Democrats

Photos provided N’KIYLA “JASMINE” THOMAS, candidate for U. S. Senate from Oklahoma, was guest speaker at the recent meeting of Bryan County Federation of Democratic Women. Thomas said that she wants to be a voice in the Senate for fair wages and opportunities for workers; accessible health care; better teacher pay and classroom funding; rights for immigrants; and support for farmers and ranchers, not corporate interests. The Senate seat Thomas is eyeing is currently held by Markwayne Mullin. If Mullin is confirmed by the U. S. Senate to be Secretary of Homeland Security, as is expected, Gov. Kevin Stitt will appoint someone to serve the rest of his Senate term, and Oklahoma voters will choose a new Senator this fall.

Troy Green, candidate for U.S. Senate, spoke to the Bryan County Federation of Democratic Women (BCFDW) last week at Donald W. Reynolds Library. Green is one of three Democratic candidates running for the seat currently occupied by Markwayne Mullin. N’Kiyla Jasmine Thomas, another of the three Democratic candidates for Senate, will be guest speaker at the next meeting. BCFDW meets every third Tuesday of the month at the Reynolds Library. For further information, one may contact either BCFDW or Bryan County Democratic Party at bryancodemocrats@gmail.com.

Brandon Wade, candidate for U.S. Representative from CD2, spoke at the regular meeting of Bryan County Democratic Party. Wade lives in Bartlesville and is visiting all the counties in CD2. A long-time union leader and negotiator, Wade is also Secretary of Oklahoma Democratic Party Veterans Federation. The CD2 seat is currently held by Josh Brecheen. The local Democratic party meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Donald W. Reynolds Library in Durant. Further details are available from bryancountydemocrats@gmail.com.
