Main Street hosts Art and Wine Festival

Durant Main Street’s Art and Wine Festival was Saturday on North Third Avenue in downtown Durant, and it included many activities and vendors.

Main Street Executive Director Stephanie Swicker said the event included local wineries, artists and live music. It will be an annual event, and they already have a date set for March 2027.

“We’ve had art festivals and we’ve had wine walks, but we’ve never combined the two,” Swicker said, the day of the event. “This year, we’ve combined both of them and hopefully, it will be a good, fun time for everyone.”

Swicker said the event is a fundraiser for Durant Main Street and a way to advertise businesses in the Main Street district. It also included a bingo game where people visited different businesses and had the opportunity to win prizes.

The next large Main Street event will be the Met Gala May 2 at Lost Street Brewing Co. Awards will include best business, best interior design and best entrepreneur.

The theme will be Pearls & Prohibition.

The Main Street office recently moved from the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce to Three Valley Museum to be in the heart of the downtown district.

“We’re getting ourselves settled, and we’re hoping to do an open house soon,” Swicker said. “It’s wonderful and Three Valley Museum is an incredible building, so it’s fun to be inside of there.”

Jewelry was for sale at Durant Main Street’s Art and Wine Festival.
