Caddo, Silo advance to slow pitch state

Caddo cruised into its ninth straight slow pitch state tournament and Silo qualified for the 11th year in a row with strong regional tournament performances last week.

The second-ranked Lady Bruins continued their quest of a fifth straight slow pitch crown by belting Talihina (11-1) and Apache (12-1) in dominant fashion for the Class 3A regional title.

Silo, ranked third in Class 4A, meanwhile routed Prague (15-3) but had to rebound after a loss to Valliant (10-3) to eliminate Prague (14-2) in a rematch to advance.

Calera came up short of a return to state with regional losses to Hartshorne (8-6) and Warner (7-1).

Caddo

The Lady Bruins erupted for three runs in the first and third innings to take command against Talihina before finishing it off on the rule with a fiverun sixth.

Gage Vaughn and Audrey Hughes were the offensive stalwarts for Caddo as each posted three hits and drove in three runs apiece. One of Vaughn’s hits went for a double which was the team’s lone extra base hit in the game.

Braylee Malone, Brylee Daniel, Brilee Tyson, Laynie Busby and Harlee Taylor posted one hit apiece.

The regional title tilt was much the same pattern as Caddo blasted out of the gate with four runs in the first and another four in the second inning. Another four-run outburst helped put it away early in the fourth stanza.

Kayden Prince belted a home run and drove in four while Daniel also added a bomb with three RBI. Malone and Presley Beck chipped in three hits apiece with Vaughn and Kayden Cowan tossing in two apiece.

Silo

Neely House belted a pair of home runs and Maddix Sander finished only a single away from hitting for the cycle in the opening blistering of Prague. Each drove in five runs.

Connie Tubby posted four hits, including another home run, while Paislee Johnson and Abi Cordell tallied a single and double apiece.

Silo built a 3-0 advantage against Valliant fueled by three hits from Paetyn Garrett but watched the Lady Bulldogs score the final 10 runs of the contest to post the upset win.

The Lady Rebels bounced back with their season on the line by exploding for nine runs in the first stanza and never looked back from there.

House finished with three doubles and drove in five runs as Connie Tubby, Kostina Tubby and Sander added two hits each. Jayci Webb, Garrett, Adri Standridge and Kamrey Hendricks all notched one hit.

Calera

The Lady Bulldogs pounded out 10 hits against Hartshorne but watched a 5-4 fifth inning lead slip away in the opening round loss.

Kaira Beller had a big game at the plate, smashing a pair of home runs and a double while accounting for two runs batted in. Auhnesty Maytubby blasted two homers and knocked in three. Chanah Palmer and Kiree Louis also pitched in two hits each.

Calera plated a run in the first inning against Warner to knot the score but the Lady Bulldog bats went silent after that as Warner tallied six unanswered runs.

Beller, Tori Allmon, Maytubby, Makenna Owens, Rilyn Teafatiller, Palmer and Taryn Niblett all contributed one hit.
