Junior Avery Sager cruised to another school record in spurring several solid finishes by the Durant High School track and field team in its final regular season meet at Duncan last week.
The Lady Lions and Lions will travel to Owasso on Saturday for the Class 5A Regional Meet.
Sager eclipsed her own DHS mark in the 3,200 meters as she clocked in at 11 minutes, 54.7 seconds while placing third individually.
Judi Free tallied a personal best time of 2:33.39 to take fourth in the 800 meters, Dasia Lewis was fourth in the discus with a toss of 105 feet, 10 inches and Bailey Cross ended fifth in the pole vault at 8 feet, 6 inches.
The Lady Lions’ 1,600 relay unit of Free, Sager, Kaitlen Rush and Stacia Davis claimed fifth at 4:25.33 while the group of Free, Brooklyn Hill, Laynee Emert and Caitlyn Ortega teamed for a sixth place effort of 11:10.64.
Durant’s boys were sparked by a new personal best time of 4:37.74 in the 1,600 meters by Zach Ervin. Damien Almos checked in fourth in the 110 hurdles in 15.80 seconds and Rylan Avery was fifth in the 300 hurdles at 41.33 seconds.
The Lion 800 relay combination of Avery, Aiden Polk, Jaythyn Edmundson and Josiah Trombley was fifth in 1:32.98 while the 3,200 meter relay unit of Ervin, Kason Ford, Hudson Phillips and Isaiah Hall also captured fifth by crossing the stripe at 8:49.21.
