Returning to the Class 5A state soccer playoffs, the Durant Lady Lions watched a solid campaign come to an end last week with a 4-0 loss on the road at Claremore.
It was a tight defensive battle through nearly 30 minutes of play before the host Lady Zebras found the back of the net with the first goal of the night.
That’s how it remained through halftime before the aggressive Claremore offense connected on a second goal at the 60-minute mark. The Lady Zebras tacked on a pair of late scores as well despite Durant’s Mia Ibarra coming up with 29 saves in goal.
Ibarra and Katelyn Mauck were selected for All-State honors for the Lady Lions while teammate Marigold Moore was an honorable mention choice.
