Junior Khloe Harris won the first individual state championship in school history last weekend, leading the Silo Lady Rebels to a seventh place team finish at the Class 3A State Track and Field Meet in Catoosa.
The Restland Rebels’ boys squad also notched a 12th place team finish in the prestigious event spurred by a trio of placing efforts from senior Lewis Cross.
Harris dominated the pole vault competition with a gold medal performance of 12 feet, 8 inches but came up just short in her quest to break the state outdoor record in the event. She already holds the state indoor record.
The Lady Rebel stalwart was outstanding on the track as well, taking home the bronze medal in the 200 meters in 25.64 seconds as well as finishing fourth in the 100 meters at 12.24 seconds.
Kyndall Smith posted her personal best in the pole vault as well, capturing sixth place at 9 feet, 6 inches while Xayleigh Austin added a seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:26.06.
Silo’s 1,600 relay unit of Taylor Dewitt, Avery Childers, Austin and Harris clocked in at 4:08.48 for fifth place.
Cross reached the medal podium in all three of his individual races, led by a state runner-up time of 1:57.64 in the 800 meters. He was third in the 1,600 at 4:26.49 and crossed the stripe in 9:41.37 for fourth in the 3,200 meters.
The Rebels added an eighth in the 3,200 relay with the grouping of Hunter Garrison, Mykal French, Noah Green and Garrett Coffey posting a time of 8:35.97.
