Members of the Silo FCCLA Chapter recently returned from the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., where they joined thousands of student leaders from across the nation to compete, develop leadership skills, and represent Oklahoma on the national stage.
This year’s conference brought together more than 10,000 FCCLA members, advisers, and supporters from across the United States for leadership training, national competitive events, networking opportunities, and recognition of outstanding chapters and members.
The Silo FCCLA Chapter proudly represented Oklahoma by:
• Brody Roberts, served as one of 16 Voting Delegates for Oklahoma.
• Molly Murphy and Bailey Sanford — Focus on Children, Silver Medal
• Bentley Dodds - Event Management - Top 10 National Finalist
• Jaxon Thomas - Interviewing Skills - 7 place finish “We are so proud of the hard work and dedication these students have demonstrated. They have represented our chapter, school and state well. Cindy Franks, FCCLA Adviser” Oklahoma Continues to Lead the Nation Oklahoma FCCLA celebrated an outstanding National Leadership Conference, earning recognition as the largest state association in the nation while continuing its tradition of excellence.
Highlights from Oklahoma included:
• Oklahoma was recognized for the largest FCCLA membership in the nation after surpassing 28,000 members.
• Oklahoma received a National Membership Increase Award for adding more than 4,000 members during the past year.
• Brittani Phillips, Oklahoma FCCLA State Adviser, was named National State Adviser of the Year.
• Kooper Walker of Kingston High School was elected National Vice President of Development after advancing through a highly competitive national election process.
• Oklahoma had two National Officer candidates who advanced to the Top 20 in the nation.
• Shelly Crawford of Grove High School received the Spirit of Advising Award.
• Amanda Davis, Lacy Grotheer, and Laura Harris were recognized as Master Adviser Academy: Elite graduates.
• Maddie Mueller of Colbert High School was recognized as a Top 15 National Member of the Year Finalist.
• Maddie Mueller and Aaliyah Larson of Stilwell FCCLA participated in the Say Yes to FCS Signing Ceremony, committing to becoming Family and Consumer Sciences educators.
• Members from Tulsa Technology Center were selected to participate in the National Fashion Show.
• Amber-Pocasset FCCLA showcased its chapter during the FCCLA Showcase.
• Oklahoma members earned 14 Top 10 national finishes in FCCLA Challenge Tests.
When asked about NLC, Jax Thomas had this to say, “It was such an amazing experience in Washington, D.C. with FCCLA! I had the opportunity to compete in Interview Skills, visit the Washington Monument, explore two Smithsonian museums, tour the U.S. Botanic Garden, and see many other famous landmarks. I’m thankful for the memories, the people I met, and this incredible opportunity!.”
FCCLA helps students develop leadership, workplace readiness, communication, and career skills through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Members have opportunities to compete in STAR Events, participate in community service, explore careers, and build leadership skills that prepare them for success after high school.
Silo FCCLA is already preparing for another exciting year of leadership, service, and competition.
