‘No Kings’ rally to be held

A nonpartisan “No Kings” rally will be held Saturday, October 17, in front of the Pizza Hut at 1119 Main Street.

The Durant rally is one of thousands taking place that day throughout the country as part of a “national day of nonviolent action and peaceful encouragement to turn out the vote,” according to its organizers.

Anyone who is fed up with higher prices and with planned cuts to health care, Social Security offices, veterans’ rights, public education, Head Start, meals for school children, and radical restrictions on voters’ rights is welcome to join the rally.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own signs—familyrated, please—or to choose one that will be available at the rally: Defend Social Security, No Kings, Hands OFF Public Schools, or No More Tax Breaks for Billionaires.

Bottled water will be provided for attendees.

Conservatives and Progressives need each other. In this country, power lies with the people, standing together for each other and for democracy.

Early voting dates are October 28-31. Election day is November 3, 7 am to 7 pm. More information about voting is at oklahoma.

Fed up with the direction of this country right now? Come to the “No Kings” rally on October 17.
