Jacquelyn Lee (Bassford) Gold
Jacquelyn Lee (Bassford) Gold was born in Washington D.C. to Ethlyn Lee Stannard Bassford and Charles Atwood Bassford on March 27, 1935 and entered the gates of heaven on September 12, 2026 at the age of 91. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1953 and attended Cameron University and completed a baccalaureate degree in Business Education in 1959 at The University of Oklahoma. She also earned a master’s degree in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Jackye married C. Henry Gold on July 10, 1954, and they raised four children.
Mrs. Gold taught in the School of Business at Southeastern Oklahoma State University until her retirement in 1995. She was active in the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and held several leadership roles within that organization.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Durant, teaching Sunday School and serving on various committees throughout her 58-year membership.
Jackye had a creative touch and enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends and personalizing Christmas stockings for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also created displays with her collection of vintage keys from her grandfather’s service with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and working jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother, and her husband of 64 years. Surviving her are her four children: Brent Gold and wife Sheila of Caddo, Kimberly Pool and husband Chris of Pauls Valley, Laura Stephens and husband Philip of Durant, and Sheri Mauck and husband David of Edmond. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jillian Russell, Jerek Russell, Kyle Stephens and wife Kalyn, Stephanie Stephens, Natalie Eppler and husband Kadon, and Megan Golden and husband Cullen; and six great grandchildren, Kale, Kanberlin, Khloe, and Kaislee Jacquelyn Stephens, and Klaidon and Nolan Eppler who lovingly referred to her as Nana J.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Dr. C. Henry and Jackye Gold Scholarship fund at The Southeastern Foundation, 425 W. University Boulevard, Durant, OK 74701.
A family visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Gordon Funeral Home, 221 N. 3rd Ave, Durant, OK.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8900 NW Cache Road, Lawton, OK.
Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Chaffin, Jerek Russell, Kyle Stephens, Kadon Eppler, and Cullen Golden.
