Caddo blisters Sasakwa to improve to 3-0

Sophomore Bayler Black rushed for a career-high 201 yards and four touchdowns to fuel the Caddo Bruins to a 55-0 shellacking of Sasakwa in non-district football action last week.

The Bruins, who posted a third straight mercy rule decision, improved to 3-0 on the season and will play host to Waurika on Friday night at Bruin Field.

Black carried just 12 times but was at the forefront of the explosive Caddo offense that tallied seven explosive plays which accounted for more than 15 yards.

Coach Jeff Wigington’s squad led 27-0 at the end of one period and tacked on another 28 points in the second frame to wrap things up early. And although they committed their first turnover of the season, the Bruin defense made sure not to lose the turnover battle, coming up with four takeaways of their own.

Quarterback Cale Wigington had another workman-like performance in the limited action, posting 82 yards and two touchdowns on nine rushing attempts as well as adding 95 yards passing and a score on four completions.

Jake McKay snagged all four passes with one going to paydirt.

The Bruin defense was all over the place once again, getting two interceptions apiece from McKay along with Noah Carvel. Noah Dry pitched in 10 tackles with Jase Counce and McKay contributing nine apiece.

Caddo will look for a challenge from 2-1 Waurika this week as the Eagles are coming off 46- and 66-point scoring explosion the past two weeks following a 52-6 loss to top-ranked Weleetka.

The Eagles have a dual threat quarterback as well in junior Jaxton Simmons, who accounted for 2,500 total yards and 28 touchdowns a season ago.
