Caddo blitzes Rock Creek; Calera, Silo sweep

Caddo 66, Rock Creek 33 (girls)

Second-ranked Caddo held a slim 13-8 lead after one quarter before erupting in a 23-5 second period flurry to take complete command.

Jaycie Nichols was almost impossible for Rock Creek to stop as she poured in 10 in the first stanza and another 11 points in the second to single handedly outscore the Lady Mustangs 21-13 before halftime.

Nichols finished with a game-high 26 points in less than three quarters of action.

Kadey McKay tallied 11 with Kayden Prince and Harlee Taylor scoring eight apiece, Jordyn Nichols tossed in seven with Danica Lanig and Anna Adair pitching in three each.

Rock Creek was fueled by Morgan Bryant’s 10 points. Audrey Knight added eight, Macey Weger had seven, Laynie Knight scored four with Olivia Whitaker and Brooke Crenshaw both scoring two.

Caddo 68, Rock Creek 38 (boys)

In a regular season matchup of the top-two seeds in the Bryan County tournament, it was all Caddo from virtually the start.

Rock Creek hung close through one stanza as the Bruins held a 21-15 advantage before the hosts broke it wide open in a 19-3 second quarter burst. It was a commanding 57-30 cushion at the end of three periods.

D.J. Dill paced three Bruins in double figures with 20 points. Kale Brister poured in a season-high 17 that included four three pointers with Carson Culbreath also notching 12.

Rance Richardson scored six, Noah Bacon had four, Corbin Stoner three with Jake McKay, Parker Bearden and Gavin McMichael posting two apiece.

Leading the charge for Rock Creek was Blake Barrett with 11 points. Colby Hopkins contributed eight, J.T. Talley had five with Zaiden Craige, Anthony Nichols, J.W. Edelen and Kenneth Ashby all scored three. Jaxon Whitaker ended with two.

Calera 58, Turner 34 (girls)

The Lady Bulldogs built a double-digit first half lead and then opened it wide open in a decisive 19-point third frame to easily improve to 13-1 on the season.

Carlaysia Brown poured in 20 points and Taylynn Conder had 15 in spurring the Calera offensive attack.

They also picked up seven points each from Emma Daniel and Amariah McLaughlin. Kenzie Condor added five and Kaysun Thralls had four.

Calera 50, Turner (boys)

Sophomore Logan Bumgarner pumped in a career high 22 points as Calera took control from the start and never looked back.

The Bulldogs were up 12-3 after one frame, 28-9 at intermission and 43-15 at the end of three periods.

Bumgarner canned four three pointers for his game-high scoring total. Devan Walton tossed in nine, Lex Carlton had seven, Talon Rose and Rance Lewellen scored four apiece as Matthew Sweeney and Brody Laxton both chipped in two.

Silo 60, Seminole 30 (girls)

The visiting Lady Rebels pitched a 13-0 first quarter shutout and eased their way to the convincing victory.

It was a 28-11 Silo advantage at halftime and 52-17 at the end of three periods thanks to a monster 24-points third stanza.

Three Lady Rebels reached double figures led by Makayla Clark’s 16 points. Cache Atwood tossed in 13 and Ryleigh Pierce had 11.

Kostina Tubby scored eight along with a monster 15 rebounds. Harlie Gardner had five, Kyleigh Pierce scored four and Avery Beauchamp finished with three.

Silo 66, Seminole 63 (boys)

Charlie Gardner poured in 13 second quarter points and Sam Mendenall punched in seven off the bench to rally Silo from an early deficit as they held off the host Chieftains down the stretch.

The Rebels were up 30-26 at intermission and 51-41 after three periods.

Gardner tallied a careerhigh 34 points as Mendenall also reached double figures with 11.

Sophomore Daxter Thomas posted seven points, eight assists and came through with four big steals in the final quarter. Barett Snapp had five, Hayden Roberts scored four and Zane Sander chipped in three.
