Conditt, Sager set new DHS track records

A pair of girls’ school records fell as the Durant High School track teams had several strong performances in the Annual Madill Invitational Meet last weekend.

Skyla Conditt set a new DHS mark in the long jump with a second place leap of 16 feet, 11 inches while Avery Sager added a third place time of 12 minutes, 9.66 seconds to eclipse the school record in the 3,200 meters.

The Durant boys squad took third in the team standings fueled by a gold medal time of 41.46 seconds by Rylan Avery in the 300 hurdles.

K.J. Lowery notched a personal record of 53.12 seconds in the 400 meters for third place and was also fourth in the 1,600 meters at 4:45.84. Damian Almos contributed a third in the 110 hurdles in 15.92 seconds, Chris Hix was third in the shot put at 46 feet, 7.25 inches, Caleb Simpkins added a heave of 120 feet, 6 inches for fourth in the discus and Tashaun Williams chipped in a fourth in the long jump at 20 feet, 3 inches.

The Lions placed in all four relays led by a silver in the 3,200-meter event with Lowery, Hudson Phillips, Zach Ervin and Carter Kemp combining for a time of 8:33.64.

In the 800 relay the foursome of Jaythun Edmundson, Boston Browder, Almos and Aiden Polk was third at 1:34.59 as well as placing fourth in the sprint relay (400 meters) in 44.63 seconds. The Lions’ 1,600 relay combination of Browder, Kemp, Avery and Daniel DeLaCruz checked in fourth with a time of 3:39.10.

Durant’s girls were seventh as a team adding Conditt’s fourth place mark of 17.33 seconds in the 100 hurdles and another fourth from Sager in the 1,600 meters at 5:48.23. Emma Sherrer tossed in a third in the discus at 111 feet, 1 inch.

The sprint relay combination of Ava Anderson, Xakayla Cox, Samiah Clegg and Samiah Holmes wrapped up fourth in 51.41 seconds while Holmes, Cox and Clegg combined with Kaitlen Rush in claiming fourth in the 800 relay by clocking in at 1:51.35.
