Boosted by a pair of consolation round victories, Durant freshman Olivia Crossland finished within one match of placing in the Class 6A East Regional Monday in McAlester.
The Lion grapplers will have their regional event this weekend at Claremore.
Crossland had the most success in the event of all four Lady Lions participating in the postseason tournament despite dropping a technical fall decision in her first match at 105 pounds.
The Lady Lion stalwart received a bye in the opening consolation round before finally getting her feet under her in a solid 2:21 fall win against Reilly Vietzke of Ada. She followed with an impressive 19-4 technical fall facing Coweta’s Abigail Partain.
One match later however she bowed out of the event with a first period fall setback to Daviann Morris from Norman, who placed fourth in the tournament.
At 120 pounds, Lilly Stilwell was on the brink of the placing round as well with a pair of byes and injury forfeit decision from Bethlian Sofia Ramos of Tulsa East Central.
Maddi Rivera and Adrianna Hendrix also competed for Durant but did not win a regional match in a powerful field of grapplers.
