City employees were recognized and received awards at a recent Durant City Council meeting.
The following employees were recognized for milestone anniversaries in the last quarter:
Five years
An-Chen Lai, Finance
25 years
David Anderson, Garage Joe Clark, Police Department (currently serving as interim police chief) “We appreciate each of these employees and their contributions to our city,” the city said, in a social media post.
In other action during the meeting, the council denied a preliminary plat request by HPA Investors to build 25 single-family homes at the end of Linden Woods Drive.
According to a memorandum from the City Office of Community Development, this is a very large un-platted residential land and there was a concern of means of egress plus the current master plans do not include a second means of egress and setbacks for residential structures.
The Office of Community Development recommended that the council deny the request until a full-site plan has been submitted that shows the second means of egress and that the proper setback requirements are met.
